I, my husband and 20 yr. old son were seated in bar area for dinner on Friday Oct 16, 2015. The waitress proceeded to card my son, even though he was not ordering anything to drink. He had been seated in the bar area previously with no incident. Our waitress informed us he was not allowed to eat in the bar area and told us we would have to move. The other side was filled with many children, mostly middle school aged and younger. While I understand the goal of R.R.'s policy, there certainly should be some room to make concessions. We all wanted to enjoy a meal together in the relative calm of the bar area. While he is legally an adult and allowed to vote and fight in wars, because of R.R.'s rigid policy, we all could not enjoy a meal together in relative peace. Zero tolerance is a concept that rarely works, and in a business that relies on its customers to be successful, it was disheartening to feel so marginalized. I hope that Red Robin will modify its policies so that we can once again feel valued as a customer. At this time, we have no plans to return.

Reason of review: bar seating policy.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Location: Plainfield, Illinois

This is all BS! I go to places like RedRobin, Applebee's, Chilis, etc and see young children in the bar area all the time.

Heck, during my college years I worked in places like this!

A 20 year old is a godd@***n adult! As long as he wasn't ordering alcohol, all you whiners should put a sock in it.

This is not an RR policy, this is law. If someone from the ABC came in and somehow figured out your son was underage the restaurant would be fined.

Plainfield, then maybe you should stay inside. maybe instead of going too an restraunt and complaining and making an scene where they sit you.

people like you shouldn't be out in public anyway. i feel sorry for the employees too deal with you nasty people.

You cannot twist the rules to suite yourself, and just because you got away with it before doesn't make it okay.

21 has been the legal age to drink and go into a bar for as long as I can remember.

oh my god if I had a dollar for every parent who wants to bend the rules for them selves I wouldn't have to waitress any more the rules are the rules if they say no one under 21 is permitted in the bar area they mean it !!!!!!!!! just move to another table and get on with your evening and if you don't like the rules at this place go somewhere else in the future
